The 2m³ Skip Bin at a Glance

A 2m³ mini skip is the smallest bin we hire. It suits jobs you can load in an afternoon: a garage or shed tidy, a weekend of pruning, or clearing a room before a move. It is also the easiest bin to fit on a driveway.

What Fits in a 2m³ Skip Bin

  • About 10 to 15 full garbage bags
  • A garage or shed tidy: boxes, broken chairs and old tools
  • A weekend of garden prunings, leaves and small branches
  • Clutter from one or two rooms before a move
  • A small load of soil, bricks or concrete, booked as a heavy waste bin

When Another Size Is Better

  • Big furniture. A three-seater couch can fill most of a mini skip on its own, so a 3m³ or 4m³ is the safer choice.
  • Renovations. Even a small bathroom strip-out usually needs a 3m³.

Heavy Waste and Loading

Small bins are the right choice for heavy waste. A full 2m³ of soil or rubble already weighs around three tonnes, so a bigger bin rarely helps. Pick Soil and Dirt, Concrete and Bricks or Mixed Heavy to match your load.

Keep these out of every bin: asbestos, paint, chemicals, gas bottles, batteries and e-waste. Mattresses and tyres can go in as paid extras, added in your quote.

Booked most in

Mixed heavy loads, general waste mixed with bricks, tiles or concrete, are among the most common in 2m³ bins. If your job includes any demolition, choose Mixed Heavy rather than General Waste so the weight is covered. Book a few days ahead in April to get the dates you want. This comes from our own bookings of 2m³ bins over the last two years.

Not Sure It's the Right Size?

Compare the sizes either side. If you are between two, size up: a second bin costs more than a bigger one.

Delivery and Placement

Where it fits

A mini skip takes up about half a car space, so it fits on almost any driveway, in a carport, or on a unit car space if your strata agrees. Put it on a flat, firm surface, not soft grass or new pavers.

Permits

No permit on your own property. On the street, footpath or nature strip, your council needs to issue one first. Find your council's rules from our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane pages.
